LIFE BOAT SAFETY
DOES YOUR VESSEL HAVE AN IMO NUMBER? IF SO READ ON, IT MAY "SAVE YOU" IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE!
Wiltrading are Australia’s leading supplier of OEM approved Lifeboat, Davit and Winch servicing to allow compliance with IMO MSC Solas Resolution 1206.
This resolution states:
Qualification Levels
Weekly and monthly inspections, and routine maintenance as defined by the manufacturer, should
be conducted under the direct supervision of a senior ships officer in accordance with the instructions
provided by the manufacturer.
All other inspections, servicing and repair should be conducted by the manufacturers representative or
a person appropriately trained and certified by the manufacturer for the work to be done.
This resolution came into effect on 1 July 2006 and is now being checked by class societies and AMSArepresentatives around Australia.
Don’t get caught out by having non accredited companies claiming to have approval servicing your equipment as this will mean you will have to have the service redone by OEM accredited engineers to comply. Ref to AMSA Marine Appendix Notice 12/2007a
